Sustainability and Eco Council
|
At Longford Park Primary Academy, we believe it is important to look after our planet and in order to do this we want to educate our pupils of its importance and how small actions can play a big part in taking care of our environment. We want to educate and impower pupils to make a difference and where possible, include the community in doing so.

Eco Council
In January 2026 our Prime Minister and Eco Cabinet Members invited pupils from Year 5 and Year 6 to join our Eco Council. These pupils will meet with Mr Byles to decide on small actions that can be implemented across the school to try and save the amount of energy and waste that we consume.

Life's a Beach visit
On Wednesday 25th February, we were lucky to be visited by Sophie from the charity Life's a Beach. The charity aims to educate and inspire others to reduce the amount of single use plastics that we use. Sophie delivered a fantastic assembly to the whole school, discussing the importance of looking after our environment. Sophie then did a workshop for Year 2 - Year 6 where children had to work out how long different materials take to decompose. She then took each class around the school grounds to complete a litter pick. The children collected an amazing 12.78 kilograms of rubbish around the school grounds! More information and pictures from the day can also be found at https://www.lifesabeach.org/longford-litterpickers/
